If you are experienced in aircraft maintenance and are seeking new challenges, if you have a commitment to serve the community, the Government Flying Service (GFS) Aircraft Engineer may be a good career choice for you. The work of a GFS Aircraft Engineer is interesting, challenging and multi-faceted. As an Aircraft Engineer in the GFS, you will not only be an aircraft maintenance engineer, but also a technical service engineer, an instructor, a man-manager and an administrator. Your work will also bring you into contact with both local and overseas agents, suppliers and manufacturers of aircraft components.
Aircraft Engineer Wings Badge will be awarded to an Aircraft Engineer who has achieved the qualification of a Civil Aviation Department licensed aircraft engineer. The gear between the wings represents that the Engineering Section plays a fundamental role in ensuring that the aircraft and helicopter fleet is maintained at their best serviceability at all times.

Training for an Aircraft Engineer in the GFS includes aircraft type training on the GFS fleet – fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters – locally and overseas. There will also be detachments to other sections within the GFS to broaden their knowledge of the GFS operations.
