It is my privilege to welcome you personally to the website of the Government Flying Service (GFS). I am proud to present to you our equipment and our family of aviation professionals.
Flying and working on aircraft have always been our dreams. We are fortunate that we can serve the community at the same time as we fulfill our dreams. Through the untiring effort of the previous Controllers, the GFS has become an internationally renowned paramilitary flying organisation supporting all aspects of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Our scope of work ranges from Search and Rescue operations in the open seas in the middle of typhoons, Fire-Fighting and anti-terrorist work, to the conveyance of casualties to the hospital. In the last couple of years, our challenge has shifted from providing a rapid response flying service to one that caters for the special needs of the community. For instance, we have raised our capability in providing pre-hospital care to the casualties on board our aircraft during their transit to hospital. That service is particularly important when we have critically injured persons from, say, a serious traffic accident.
We will continue to improve our service to the public through new techniques, procedures and better equipment. More importantly, we will continue to invest in our people since it is they who make the difference. We are confident that through the joint effort of the Disciplined Services, we will make Hong Kong a safer and a happier place.
