Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the department has had to scale down many visits over the last few years and hence with the recent relief of visit restriction, it was a delightful experience to be able to welcome some primary school youngsters to visit GFS last month.
The event was jointly organised by the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) Volunteer Team, GFS and the charitable institution Rainbow Foundation. We accommodated more than thirty students along with volunteers to look at our day to day activities and also explore our aircraft and special equipment.
The visit was filled with laughter and a strong air of enthusiasm. The crew received many technical questions from the students concerning aviation theory and details of our fleet. Our young visitors were so passionate and eager to find out how we do our jobs and what our job entails. The hangar visit was divided into four different stations, namely the Helicopter H175 along with demonstration of the winching and safety equipment, the external walk-around of the Challenger 605 fixed-wing aircraft, the cockpit of the Challenger and also the rear of the Challenger which includes its special equipment.
We hope this valuable opportunity to engage our younger generation could infuse them with our passion in aviation.
