The C919 aircraft performed a low-level flight demonstration over Victoria Harbor in the morning of 16 December, 2023. Government Flying Service (GFS) deployed two H175 helicopters to assist in aerial recording of the flight.
To ensure a smooth and safe flight demonstration, the Civil Aviation Department (CAD), GFS and the Commercial Aircraft Cooperation of China Limited (COMAC) had worked closely over several months prior to the event. This included meetings and familiarization flights with the H175 helicopters and the Challenger 605 fixed-wing aircraft for the C919 crew to acquaint themselves with local flying procedures.
The C919 aircraft is China's first self-developed large passenger aircraft. It is designed and manufactured by COMAC, capable of carrying a maximum of 190 passengers on short to medium-haul regional services. A series of activities for the C919 aircraft were held during their visit such as the static display at the Hong Kong International Airport and a sharing session held at the CAD Headquarters, allowing the public to gain a better understanding of the aviation development in China.
