Before the Helicopter Arrives

  1. Ensure your own safety, stay calm and attend to the casualty.
  2. Provide essential information to the operator on the 999 hotline, including: casualty's and your location, nature of incident, number of casualties or persons requiring assistance: gender, age, current condition and medical history of the casualty: clothing including colour of people staying on scene.
  3. If it is safe to do so, move to a clear area so that the rescue helicopter can location you more easily. Stay away from the edge of any cliff or steep slope.
  4. Put away all loose articles, e.g. tent or shelter sheet.
  5. ** GFS may request that you share your location through your smart phone.
  6. Conserve your mobile phone battery.
  7. Prepare the casualty's personal identification document.

After You have been Located by the Helicopter

  1. Put away all loose articles including umbrella, hat or towel etc.
  2. Do not shine your torch directly at the helicopter.
  3. Be aware of the strong helicopter downwash. Kneel down or hold onto something firm to keep your balance.
  4. Follow the rescuer instructions.

How to share your location by using Whatsapp

The GFS will send you a whatsapp message to your smartphone, respond the message by share your location using Whatsapp.

  1. If you are using Apple IOS, Click the "+" (Plus) icon on the left of the message entry row.
    If you are using Android IOS, Click the "Paper Clip" icon on the right message entry row.
  2. Then select "Location".
  3. "Send your current location".
